This month color theme is saffron. There was a big fight before settling with these dresses. I didn’t have same looking saffron color dresses. We started digging the cupboard and first took out 2 sets of chudi’s, though exactly not the same pattern, both of them are chudidhar, with more or less same pattern and similar looking colors. While i convinced them to wear the chudis for saffron day, the bulb glowed in pani’s head.
Me : What?
Panimalar : I think, we wore these dresses for last years saffron day.
Me : (Yes. she was correct) So what? you can wear the same this year too.
Pani & Ovi : No. We can’t wear the same this year too. We want something new.
This picture on the left is the chudis I was talking about. Any amount of convincing didn’t work. I knew that they wore these last year, but never thought this little girl will remember that. Ok. We decided to dig further in another cupboard where i had some traditional dresses for occasional wear.
We spotted these 2 dresses. One gujarati dress that was bought for a gujarati dance for school annual day 2 years back. Now, both of them wanted the same piece. Then i took the other traditional pavadai which had its border and tops in light orange color and convinced panimalar to wear it. Somehow both of them settled with the dresses and choose all related cosmetics (bangles, chain, hairband, hairclip and bindi) matching to their dress.
They also choose a similar color dress for their little brother and insisted their granny to wear that dress for their brother today.
