Thekkady Trip – Titbits

Semester 1 holidays – We all packed ourselves to God’s own country, Thekkady. There is absolutely no words to describe it. One has to feel and experience the beauty of mother nature.

Day 1: After the night long train journey and after the few hours travel on road, with loads of excitement and expectations, we landed in Periyar House, Thekkady, at around noon. On the way, we stopped for few scenic clicks, b.fast, and grapes garden visit.

Periyar House was within the Periyar Tiger Reserve and the only agenda that day was the Boating in Periyar Reserve Lake. We just wandered around the jungle waiting for our turn to go on the boat ride and the boat ride was an amazing experience. You just look around and click some random pictures, they would become your system wall paper. Such was the beauty of the lake and the mountain surrounding them.

Day 2 : On second day, we moved to a resort outside of the forest area and that day was packed with Elephant ride, jeep safari, Kathakali show and Kalari show.

Photo of the trip :  Ilam was the only person who stood correctly in place to get the blessing of Lakshmi (the name of the elephant that carried us for the ride). See Ilam’s face.

Day 3 : After checkout from the hotel, we went for a Plantation visit where we saw about dozen spice plants (Cardomom, Clove, Pepper, Cinnamon, Bay leaf, Nutmeg, Star anise, Rubber, Cocoa, Vannila, Coffee, Badam, Fig and more). Then on our way back, we visited and drenched ourselves in Surili falls and reached Madurai by 6 pm. We didn’t have enough time to go to the temple, so visited Nayakar mahal and returned back to Chennai with loads of memories and photos.

Thus ends the happy vacation and we are starting the second semester fresh & energetic. 🙂
